Hugh, Thanks!
That was insightful piece of wisdom. It is my first time to be parent. I love your passion for family.

Thanks, Christopher!

You know, I'm a pretty open-minded guy. But I never thought that I would be open to unschooling. It just seemed too "over-the-top" in its rationale to me.

I never did come to terms with that opinion in my mind. Instead, I was persuaded by watching it in action during our four month journey, and since that time.

To me, the results of unschooling are counter-intuitive. Yet it works! The key is for the parents to just relax.

By all means, check it out. I suggest that you focus on discussion groups where real people discuss how they live their real lives in this way.

The most obvious change that we have discovered is a more peaceful environment. The kids fight much less often, and the pressure on me as a parent to "perform" simply isn't there. Everyone is themselves, instead of acting the role they think that they are supposed to.

And the kids seem to bloom in this environment - an environment based on trust.

I wish you luck in your parental endeavors, Christopher! And if this is your first time as a parent, I will give this one piece of advice: Relax. Kids are tough. And they grow all by themselves - you don't build them. Just show them that you love them and share life's journey one day at a time!

Thanks again for your great comment!

All the best,

Hugh

This sounds great. I hope to read about it; my son is 1 year 5 months old and how to better "school him" is something that has been on our minds (my wife and i)

Thanks
